We live in a world of inspiring beauty and awesome forces, but we are often so caught up in the busy-ness of modern life that we barely notice it. Photography lets me open a window onto that world as we would see it if we were able to focus and extend our senses: The camera allows us to gather the faint light of a moonlit night, to trace a river’s flow in a single glance, to glimpse the passage of ages in a handful of pebbles on a beach. If we look closely and pay attention, we can see that the world goes on forever, and so do we.

In this age of digital photography, we speak of “capturing” images -  but really it is you, the viewer, whom I want to be capture, transported for a moment to the serenity of a quite lake at sunrise, to the thundering presence of a roaring waterfall, to that place of wonder we once called home and now yearn to revisit so that our spirits may be refreshed.

My love of nature and the outdoors is rooted in my childhood years in northern Wisconsin. Although I now live in the southern most part of the state, I still feel at home in the northwoods of Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I find that to be in an area of tremendous beauty, peace, and spirit, and most of my images have been made there. I hope these images manage to convey some sense of the place from which they spring.
